Terms of Service

Last updated 4 September 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Lakelytics Ltd, trading as ChipACarp, whose registered address is 17 Foxwood Way, New Barn, DA3 7LD, United Kingdom (“ChipACarp”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the ChipACarp website, the hardware shop, the lake-manager platform and the angler app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, placing an order or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Who can use ChipACarp

You must be at least 18 to buy hardware or hold a manager (fishery) account. Anglers under 18 may log catches with the permission of a parent or guardian. You’re responsible for keeping your account details and password secure, and for everything done under your account. Tell us promptly at info@chipacarp.com if you think your account has been compromised.

2. Accounts and roles

ChipACarp has three kinds of user:

  • Fishery managers — run a lake, keep the fish registry, approve catches and hold a subscription.
  • Anglers — log their own catches, build a personal record and join matches or groups. Anglers may start with a light “guest” identity by scanning a lake’s code and can later create a full account, which carries their existing catches across.
  • Platform administrators — us, operating the Service.

A fishery manager is responsible for their own lakes, staff, tag data and the catches shown on their embedded website feed.

3. Subscriptions and free trials

Manager platform access is sold as a subscription (monthly or annual). Where we offer a free trial, we’ll tell you how long it lasts; unless you cancel before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings or by emailing us; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period and we don’t provide pro-rata refunds for part-periods unless the law requires it. We may change subscription prices on renewal by giving you reasonable notice by email.

4. Hardware orders

Prices for tags, guns, scanners and related kit are shown in the shop and include VAT where applicable. Postage is charged per shipping zone and shown before you pay. A contract for hardware is formed when we send you an order confirmation. We may refuse or cancel an order (for example if an item is out of stock or mispriced), in which case we’ll refund you in full. Risk in goods passes to you on delivery; ownership passes once we’ve received payment in full. Consumer cancellation and returns rights under UK law are set out in section 8.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We don’t see or store your full card details. You must have the right to use the payment method you provide. If a subscription payment fails, we may retry it and will contact you; we may suspend access to the platform if payment remains outstanding.

6. Tagging, fish welfare and your responsibilities

PIT tagging must be carried out competently and in line with fish-welfare good practice and any applicable licensing. ChipACarp supplies hardware and software; you are responsible for how tagging is performed on your fish and for holding any permissions you need. We can train you or tag on-site, but the decision to tag and the welfare of your fish remain yours. Nothing in the Service is a guarantee about a fish’s health, identity or provenance.

7. Your content and the public feed

You keep ownership of the photos, catch records and other content you upload. You grant us a licence to host, resize and display that content to operate the Service — including, where a manager approves it, on that fishery’s public catch feed, fish passport pages and the public tag registry. You confirm you have the right to upload what you post and that it isn’t unlawful, offensive or infringing. Managers are responsible for moderating and approving catches before they appear publicly. We may remove content that breaches these terms.

8. Consumer rights (returns and cancellation)

If you’re a consumer in the UK, you may have the right to cancel a hardware order within 14 days of receiving the goods and return them for a refund, subject to the goods being unused and in a resaleable condition. For hygiene and welfare reasons, tags removed from sealed packaging may not be returnable. This does not affect your legal rights if goods are faulty or not as described. To start a return, email info@chipacarp.com. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

9. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the Service: no unlawful use, no attempts to break or probe our security, no scraping or bulk extraction beyond your own data export, no uploading of malware, and no using the registry or theft flags to harass or defraud. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

10. Availability and data export

We work to keep the Service available but can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may carry out maintenance. There’s no lock-in: you can export your fish and catch data at any time. If we discontinue the Service, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a chance to export.

11. Liability

We don’t exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be excluded by law. Subject to that, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, or for loss arising from the theft, escape, death or misidentification of fish, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. If you use ChipACarp as a business, you have no consumer rights under these terms and the business-specific limits apply.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change we’ll tell you by email or in-app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
