Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026

This policy explains how Lakelytics Ltd, trading as ChipACarp (17 Foxwood Way, New Barn, DA3 7LD, United Kingdom), handles your personal data. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” for the personal data described here. If you have any questions, email info@chipacarp.com.

1. The data we collect

  • Account data — your name or angler handle, email address, and (optionally) phone number and password.
  • Fishery data — for managers: your fishery name, lakes, staff, and your fish/tag registry.
  • Catch data — the catches you log: fish tag, weight, length, method, swim/peg, date, and any photos you upload.
  • Order and billing data — items ordered, shipping and billing addresses, and subscription status. Card payments are handled by Stripe — we don’t store your full card number.
  • Technical data — basic logs needed to run and secure the Service, such as IP address and device/browser information.

2. How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To provide the Service (accounts, logging catches, the manager platform, orders) — to perform our contract with you.
  • To take payment and manage subscriptions — contract and our legitimate interest in running the business.
  • To show approved catches publicly on a fishery’s feed, fish passports and the tag registry — where a manager has approved it, on the basis of legitimate interest in operating these features; you can ask for content to be removed.
  • To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or theft — legitimate interest.
  • To contact you about your account, orders, trials and service changes — contract and legitimate interest. Marketing emails, if any, are sent only with your consent, and you can opt out at any time.

3. Sharing your data

We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run ChipACarp, under contract and only as needed:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Email delivery — to send account, order and reset emails.
  • Hosting — our servers, hosted on our provider’s infrastructure in the UK/EU.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the safety of fish (for example, a network-wide theft flag). A fishery manager can see the catches and angler names logged at their own lakes.

4. Public content

Some content is public by design once approved by a fishery: catch photos on an embedded feed, fish passport pages, and the tag registry / theft lookup. Please don’t upload anything to these that you wouldn’t want shown publicly. Managers control approval; you can ask a manager, or us, to take content down.

5. How long we keep it

We keep account and catch data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards so records (such as a fish’s history) stay intact and to meet legal obligations. Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally six years). You can export or delete your data as described below.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. There is no lock-in — you can export your fish and catch data at any time. To exercise any right, email info@chipacarp.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

7. Cookies

We use only the cookies and similar storage needed to run the site and keep you signed in. See our Cookie Policy for details.

8. Children

Anglers under 18 should use ChipACarp with a parent or guardian’s permission. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and, if the change is significant, let you know by email or in-app.
